Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court after that period of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an better service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour championship, took control to create a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
